Items and Upgrade Components in World of Warcraft
Upgrades to items can be an excellent way to increase the value of your weapon and armor. Upgrades to common and magical equipment are not worth it, since rare or exclusive items will quickly outclass them.
An item can be upgraded up to six times. Each upgrade will add to the item gauge.
Glyphs
Glyphs are the item upgrade materials that can be used to boost the quality of an item's features. Glyphs can be used to upgrade weapons or armor. They can also be used to improve the quality of a ring, hat, necklace or any other accessory. Glyphs are sold at a variety of levels and are available from vendors in the city of Deneb. They are expensive but worth it since they boost an item's stats.

Growthstones

Upgrade components are not able to be used to craft new items.
A suffix is a word or group of letters that gives meaning to a larger word like -tion in the verb create or -phoria in the noun feeling. Suffixes also have the ability to alter the speech part of words. For example the suffix -er in English and German's suffix -ismus. They can even rewrite a word. For instance, the adjective defenseless becomes unprotected.
There are many suffixes that range from nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Suffixes added to words can change their meaning or pronunciation, and some have special rules that apply. Suffixes can also be used to modify the grammatical structure of the word, for instance, adding -ness to make the word an adjective, or -ic to make the noun possessive.
Suffixes aren't just used to give new meaning to words, but they can also be added to the names of places and people. A man who is single might have the surname "Paulauskaite" for instance, whereas the wife of a married woman would have "Paulauskiene".
The most commonly used suffixes are those that indicate status, such as -ion, -ist, -us, -ism, and -es. They can also be used to define a person's personality traits like -iveness, or -phoria.
Items with affixes are used to give armor and weapons additional parameters. They can be a combination of one or more prefixes and/or suffixes such as -Fiery which boosts the strength of your atk by introducing fire elemental damage. Affixes for items can be used on all items up to level 80 with the exception of hand-crafted ascended armour as well as trinkets crafted by hand.
